Is it ironic that...

I'm in India on Independence Day, independence from British rule, and it is a national holiday. I am a white Britisher. I visited the temple as a tourist and it was especially busy because it was independence day and the queue was very long. They let me jump the queue and only pay a discounted entrance fee. The same day I visited the independence day flower show and the queue was massive. They let me sneak into a side entrance without paying. Is it ironic that on a day celebrating independence from Britain a white British tourist was able to avoid queuing with the Indians and go straight in?
