63 On March 23, 2016, while in Turkey the initial hearings for journalists Can Dündar and Erdem Gül were taking place (a case where journalism itsel-the right to freedom of pres-was on trial), in the U.S., the most progressive U.S. presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders (who has twice sponsored bills for the U.S to recognize Turkey's past crime of the Armenian Genocide, a crime which Turkey adamantly denies) sat down for a 30 minute interview with Turkish-American Cenk Uygur (a known Armenian genocide denier) on Uygur's show, The Young Turks (named after the Turkish regime responsible for the Armenian Genocide) where Sanders stated, "the corporate media does everything they can to keep us entertained without addressing the real issues... They'll talk about everything under the sun but not the real issues... Because if you talk about real issues and people get educated on the real issues, you know what happens next? They actually may want to bring about change." But during Uygur and Sanders' wide ranging 30 minute interview in which the topic they spent the most time on was the current state of journalism, the trial of freedom of press in Turkey (chosen by Human Rights Watch as the world's most important human rights story of the day) was not discussed, nor did Sanders use the opportunity to educate about the Armenian Genocide by questioning Uygur on his past genocide denial....
