Is it ironic that...

This is from A Doritos commercial. I'm wondering if it's ironic. On a camp-site, two girls walk up to a guy and ask if it's safe there. The guy assures them that he has set traps for the bears all around the site using Doritos as a bait. The girls doubt if it will work. The guy tries to demonstrate it to them, when another guy spots the Doritos and tries to pick it up. But before he can, the trap closes over his hand. Everyone screams. The guy who tried to pick up the dorito also screams, but end up saying: "Aaarrggh I can't reach it!"
