Is it ironic that...

In "A Streetcar Named Desire", the text states, "... the Doctor lead Blanche away as if she were blind" and in the play she is blind to reality? Blanche seems to live in her own fantasy world and can't accept the way her life turned out. I think the writer, Tennessee Williams, meant for this connection to be made.
