Is it ironic that...

"A friend suggested it ironic that the word colloquial is infrequently used in conversation." I thought this to be more coincidence. My own comment I believe fits more into the ironic category even though I used it as a jest. My comment was "The term "colloquial" is one you normally do not hear "colloquially." Just sayin',(conversationally)" Opinions?
