Is it ironic that...

My actress girlfriend recently showed me her old university rehearsal stage, which was somehow burnt down pretty badly. Right next to the stage there was a sign that still vaguely read: No Smoking. I thought it was ironic in the sense that LIGHTING a cigarette(open fire) was prohibited right next to a burned down stage?
