would this sentence be a considered correct regarding the use of irony, "retirement parties are one of life's little cruel ironies". We don't see our former colleagues for years, when we may have wanted to. Then when we get older, fatter, dumber and uglier, they gather everyone we ever knew throughout our long years of employment to witness it.
