Is it ironic that...

Here's my example and people can vote because I don't fully understand irony: is it ironic that my mother tells me that if I emphasized my personality and got over my fear of being judged on externals that my potential is 'limitless' in the same email that she berates me for not contacting plastic surgeons (whose links she is resending) about relative minor issues? If it's not ironic, what is that? Other than messed up, of course.
